Membership Information

The River Valley Credit Union is a community based credit union. Membership is open to any person who lives or works in Windham and Windsor Counties in Vermont or in Western Cheshire and Western Sullivan Counties in New Hampshire and to members of their families, either by blood, marriage or adoption. Membership is also open to organizations within the above defined area.

To become a member, you must open a savings account (called a Base Share Account) with at least $25. You must maintain this $25 minimum balance at all times to receive member services. You will, of course, receive interest on the $25 since it is part of your savings account.

As of October 1, 2003, the USA Patriot Act requires that we verify key information when opening a new account including each account owner’s name, physical and mailing address, date of birth and social security number. To do so we request a copy of each account owner’s valid government issued identification such as a drivers license or passport, each account owner’s social security card, as well as something that can document both the physical and mailing address. For a youth account we can accept a copy of the minor’s birth certificate as identification along with the social security card. You may open your account in person at any of our offices in Brattleboro, Springfield, Putney, Bellows Falls or Townshend, Vermont. Send us a note to River Valley Credit Union, Box 8366, Brattleboro, VT 05304 and we can send you the membership forms to get you started.

Once you have joined as a member, all other products and services are yours for the asking. Please feel free to browse through our Loan Information or Deposit Information  sections for a list of products and services that are available to you as well as current interest rates.
